Our Retelling of The Mitten (Blue Group)

Our Bucket of Snow!

And down came the snow once again!  We decided to try to catch some of those big flakes that were falling with our water table!  We only left our container outside for an hour and boy did we ever collect a lot of snow! It got so stormy we decided we had better bring it inside...and just in time for a special announcement...SNOWDAY for all!

Number Combinations

We are busy learning how to show numbers in different ways.  We used unifix cubes and popsicle sticks and even string.  We found lots of ways to make six! Look for a collection of 6 things around your house.  Be sure to tell us what you found!

Sometimes Kinderkids can be teachers too!

Thank you to a special Student of the Week for teaching friends how to play his favorite game!
B.N. sure was a great teacher!

The Mitten

We have been busy exploring Jan Brett's Mitten this week!  We are getting ready to create our own retelling of the story!

Our blogging friends from Mrs. Russell's Kindergarten shared this link to a reading of The Mitten!  We hope you enjoy it too!

Friends Around The World!

Something exciting is happening in kindergarten!  We have had some kindergarten friends around the world call us through skype!  We can see the kinderkids and hear the kinderkids!  We can ask questions and sing songs.  This is very new to us but we are excited to learn with friends around the world!

Yesterday the Red Group  met Ms. Holt's class from Washington, USA.  This afternoon the Red Group met a Kindergarten class in Virginia, USA and  Two friends did some chatting with the Dandy Lions class in British Columbia Canada! Watch for more details to come soon!

Pattern Detectives

We are becoming super pattern detectives! Our january calendar shows a pattern and today we choose things to make our own patterns just like the calendar! Our blue group even switcherooed and extended the patterns created by friends!

What do you know about patterns?

Happy New Year!

It is 2012!  Happy New Year! We talked about our own celebrations and decided to make promises for the new year!  We created ourselves, wrote down our promises and then rolled our promises up in a special noisemaker!

How did you celebrate the new year?

Show and Share

We were very excited about sharing our holiday stories and having our very first official show and tell!  We had our biggest switcheroo ever!  We took turns being the listener and speaker.   We moved from person to person until we had all showed and shared!  It was fun!
