Meeting Our Real Artist

We had a special day today in kindergarten!  We met a real artist.  Her name is Catherine.  She loves to dance and loves to sing and loves to make masterpieces on silk!

First she wanted us to think about ourselves and all the things we love! We shared with a friend.

Next, we had to make a plan.  We picked one important thing about us and drew it with a pencil. We had to draw our picture as big as we could!

Our Red Group got an extra treat! Catherine showed us some of her silk paintings! They are beautiful!  They started with her pencil plans.   The Blue Group will have to wait to see more on Friday!

On Friday we will learn how to put our drawings on the silk! We can't wait!

The Number Seven

We are seven detectives.

This is what we know about the number 7.

Across the sky and down from heaven, that's the way to make a 7.

7 is a good number because it is past 6.

7 is before 8.

3 and 4 more make 7.

7 is a good number because it can make a 7000.

2 and 5 more make 7.

4 plus 3 equals 7.

7 is a good number because only 3 more will make 10.

The number 7 is in 67.

We Love to Read

We worked hard to learn to read our January poem! Our Student of the Week did a great job pointing to each word for us! Great job readers!

The Snow is Coming....Again!

School will be closing at lunchtime today due to the weather that is on the way. As a result, there will be no classes for the Red Group. Blue Group dismissal will be regular time. Bus children will be delayed, not leaving MDE until 12:05.

How To Make A Snowman Sculpture - Part 1

On Friday, we made a snowman sculpture.  Here is how you can make a sculpture.

First, we made the dough. We mixed 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 3/4 cup of water. We stirred and mixed and rolled out the dough.

Next, we made 3 balls of dough. One for the bottom, one for the middle, and one for the top.

Then, we joined them together with toothpicks so they would not fall apart or fall over.

Finally we added a little toothpick for the nose and 2 toothpicks for the arms. We waited for them to dry over the weekend.

Here is what they look like today!

Have You Heard...A Blizzard is Coming!

Our Blue Group is just a little bit excited  today!  A Blizzard is coming!  The weather man says that we may get a LOT of snow.  It is not snowing yet, but it soon will be! Mrs. Fennemore thinks she will be shovelling all weekend long!

The Kinderkids have plans for lots of fun.  We made a plan for all the things we can do on our snowday

and turned it into a wordle!

We made snowfriends...

And learned about speech balloons and how they make our snowfriends speak!

We are becoming expert kindergarten writers don't you think?

We wonder about our friends around the world...
Is there snow where you live?  What do you like to do in the snow? Have you ever had a snowday?  We hope you will leave a comment to let us know!
