Hanukkah

Tomorrow is the first day of Hanukkah.  We learned about Hanukkah today. We asked friends to tell us some things about Hanukkah.  Here is what they said:

We listened to a song about Hanukkah.  We loved it!

We watched a video about Hanukkah. It was good.

Long ago a miracle happened. The Jewish people could not celebrate their special days anymore and someone came and said I will still celebrate my holidays.  People fought so that they could celebrate their special days. The Jewish people lit a lamp and it stayed lit for 8 days but it only had oil for one day.  So it was a miracle.

We know that on the first day of Hanukkah you light one candle on the menorah.
We painted menorahs.

We made potato pancakes today.  They are called latkes. We ate them. We liked them!

Red and Green Day!

Red and Green were everywhere!

Pod Decorating Day

The decorating has begun!  We collected some boxes and paint - and oh the fun we have had! We are not completely finished our creations but are on our way!

Some friends worked on The Grinch's home

Others worked on Santa's Workshop..
.

And some worked on a gingerbread house!

A group of wonderful elves dancing around made our classroom complete!  We had a lot of fun!

The First Day of Christmas!

The Twelve Days of Christmas have begun!

MDE kicked off it's first day of Christmas today with a tree lighting ceremony!

This is what our tree looked like tonight!

We also started our countdown to christmas chain!  The kinderkids did a great job creating these all on their own and counting to make sure they had just the right number.  Tomorrow we will start our countdown!

The Gift of Kindness

A gift can be the simplest thing...like helping a friend with a zipper.  Thank you friend.

Can you think of other gifts of kindness we can give to friends?

Our Friend N.W.

Today's helper is N.W. Here is what we love about N.W.

He is kind.
He plays in the sand with me.
He helps me make sandcastles.
He is a really really good friend. He plays with me.
He builds in the blocks with me.
He helped me make stuff.
He has good eyesight . He can see me anywhere.
He paints with me.
He is a very nice friend.
He shares things.
He is a superstar listener.
He is a good boy.
He uses walking feet in our classroom.  He follows the rules.

This is our story about N.W.

Clicking Castanets

Have you heard about letter Cc and the castanets?  We added the song to our song folder for you to have fun singing at home! Some friends from our blue group wanted to share their clicking and singing skills with you!

Why not go on a letter Cc hunt at home and see what you can find?  Be sure to comment and tell us what you find!

Snowday Fun!

There was much discussion about yesterday's snowday!  The kinderkids all enjoyed the first snowday of the season!  After MANY stories were shared, we created mini masterpieces to show some snowy fun!

We also wrote a poem to share our stories!

Snowday!

Making snowpeople,
Making Snowforts,
Making snowangels,
Sliding at a snowparty,
Throwing snowballs,
Drinking hot chocolate,
We love snowdays!

SnowDay!
Shoveling, drinking hot chocolate, making a snowman,
playing in the snow, sledding, freezing, making an igloo,
throwing snowballs, making snowangels...
We love snowdays!
